At IPIL, punctuality is extremely important and children are expected to arrive at the scheduled time as our teachers and team members plan their day based on this expectation. Children also need time to settle down before the day’s activities begin and we also realize that unavoidable circumstances may delay the child’s arrival to school occasionally but we request you parents to make sincere efforts to ensure that your child arrives at the school on time
If you are going to be late kindly inform us in advance. In the event that you are early, kindly wait with your child till we are ready to receive him or her.
If you know you are going to be late to pick up your child please contact our communications officers. This is important, as one of us has to stay back with him/her and also extend the necessary reassurance till you arrive.
Please do not stop/park in front of the gate or cause traffic jams. We are situated in a residential community and must show consideration for the neighborhood.
After ‘pick-up’ parents/guardians are responsible for their children on the school premises. Always keep them by your side and never allow them to run ahead, especially out of the gate.
Please call our communications officers whenever your child will not be attending school. In case of long absences kindly send a letter accordingly, addressed to the Principal. We do get concerned if we don’t see a child and would like to be informed about his/her wellbeing. Regular attendance is extremely important for a child’s development. Although every child works at his/her own pace, consistency is a key factor. Irregular attendance affects the child’s routine and comfort level at school.
If your child is unwell and unable to take part in normal school activities, please do not send him/her to school. Recovery is quicker at home and infection of other children and team members will be avoided. If a child becomes unwell after coming to school, his/her parents will be contacted for him/her to be picked up. Basic first aid and care will be made available immediately but the school is not equipped for long term care.
We must be able to reach a parent any time during the course of the school day and therefore request you to keep your child’s ‘Information Form’ up to date with current telephone/mobile contact numbers and addresses. This is extremely important.
As we encourage independence and self-sufficiency, we request parents to send their children in comfortable clothes and shoes they can put on/take off themselves. Kindly do not send your child to school wearing expensive jewellery such as gold chains or dangling earrings. We cannot be responsible for the care of such items.
Personal belongings (e.g. jackets, sweaters, snack boxes) which are brought to school should have the child’s name written clearly on them. A basket is kept near the main entrance of the school for ‘lost and found’ items such as clothing/water bottles/snack boxes. Items that are not claimed after some time may be kept as extras for children at school or donated to people in need.
Every environment has a snack corner where children can eat their snacks. We encourage healthy eating and request parents not to send junk food and creamy cakes. Healthier options are recommended.
A spirit of cooperation and meaningful interaction between the parents, athome, the teachers and the school is extremely important. They are like links of a chain that must move in synchronicity and are all on the same side – the side of the Child.
We greatly value meaningful communication with parents. While we do organisespecific times for such communication once a month, parents are welcome to ask questions or discuss anything concerning their child when or if the need arises.
Keeping in mind the group dynamics, needs and interactions, all decisions regarding class placements rest with the school. The individual child’s emotional, social and academic development, learning style and temperament are considered while such decisions are made. In some instances, circumstances may require the Principal or academic staff to plan a schedule for a particular child which is different to the usual routine. This would be discussed with the parents in relation to the individual child and planned accordingly.
I Play I Learn will keep personal information confidential, respecting the privacy of each child and his/her family. The school will not give out phone numbers or addresses of families. Similarly, we greatly value the privacy of our staff. The office will not give out their personal phone numbers or addresses.
Learning materials are very attractive and are there to be used by all the children. Sometimes children find them so attractive that pieces of apparatus get invited home! Should this happen please return them the following day.
Each birthday is a special milestone! Your child may want to share a cake with his/her class. You could speak to us prior to the birthday regarding this. However, we do not permit balloons, hats, whistles etc. and no return gifts. The birthday child could gift an age appropriate book to the library. This is not compulsory but it has special meaning for the child.
